If you suffer from acne…

People suffering from acne need to know and follow a daily routine to keep this condition under control. It would be a good habit to make the following a habit since it is not intended to be an acne treatment but rather a way of life. Remember that is always a good idea to consult your doctor before deciding how to treat a medical condition. If otherwise you can go the wrong way causing more damage than good. Most of all the medication you are using to treat acne must be suited to your skin type. That being said, here what you should include in your daily habits: 

 

1. Each morning and night, wash your face real gentle with a mild cleanser. Make sure you cover all the areas affected by acne. Do the same after heavy exercising. The type of the cleanser should be recommended by your doctor. This way you are sure it is compatible with your skin type. Do not use strong soaps and do not scrub the skin. Astringents are only to be used if your skin is very oily. 

 

2. Do not touch the skin in the areas affected by acne. We all know how “tempting” s to pop the pimples trying to make it look better but this practice is really dangerous since it can cause scars and blemishes. 

 

3. A problem for men is shaving. It really comes down to finding the best form of razor, the one that your skin is most comfortable with. 

 

4. Most topical drugs used in acne treatment make your skin more prone to sunburn. It may look like a solution since a darker skin will make your acne more obvious BUT … This is not a long term solution! It is just a short term fix with possible long term side effects like more rapid skin aging or the risk of developing skin cancer 

 

5. Women may need to pay attention and maybe change their cosmetics. Make sure these are oil free products. Usually these are labeled as noncomedogenic. But even so some women may not have good results and actually can see their condition getting worse.
